3 Of Our Favorite Board Games & Card Games

If you want to gather some of your favorite people around a table and chat about nonsense, have a good time, and make memories together, pulling out a fun board game or card game is just about the perfect excuse! Plus, they’re pretty fun to play too (at least the good ones). Here at Off the Wagon Shop, we love all sorts of board games. Silly party games, cute family games, and even those really complicated big box games that take a few hours to play. Today, we’ve picked out three of our favorites to explain and tell you about. See what you think!

Best for playing with the family: Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is a really simple game that's perfect for playing with younger kids (recommended for ages 8 and up), but everyone in the family will have fun (unless they’re lame). Each player gets a stack of cards. Then, players will take turns flipping one card and saying the next word in the series: “Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza.” If the card flipped shows the same thing as the word said (So for example the card shows a goat, and the person flipping it said “goat” while flipping it) then players race to slap the pile. The last person has to add all those cards to their pile. There are even a few special cards to spice the game up and keep things on edge. The first person to run out of cards wins!

Best for playing with friends: Coup

Coup is partially a strategy game and partially a social deception game. You’ll start out the game with two hidden role cards. Each one grants you with a special ability that can give you a big advantage in the game. Here’s the thing: any player can use any of the special abilities at any time. But if they don’t have the role card to back it up, a player can call their bluff and cause them to lose one of their two lives! Calling bluff is dangerous though, because if that player DOES have the role card that lets them perform the special action, you lose one of your two lives instead! Battle it out with your friends, and the last one standing wins!

Best weird game to make you laugh: Goat Yoga Game

Want something a little more active, or just more weird? Goat Yoga is pretty simple, all you have to do is strike some yoga stances the different cards will show. Except you’ll have to balance an inflatable goat on you in some weird way at the same time! If you’re a yoga master this might be a simple task, but for most of us this will result in all sorts of very silly and satisfying failures!
